【Competition】: 2024 留愛園區景觀及建築競圖 (2024 Liou Ai Park Landscape and Architecture Design Competition)
【Organizer】: The Love Continuation Public Welfare Association
【Competition Website】: https://landscape.org.tw/news/announces/828
【About】:
The theme of the competition is “A space where love, family bonds, and memories coexist.” The bestselling book The Telephone Booth of the Wind describes a telephone booth located in Japan’s Iwate Prefecture, in an area devastated by a tsunami. This telephone booth became a place where people could communicate with lost loved ones, symbolizing the coexistence of love and sorrow. It became a place of spiritual solace for many survivors of the disaster who had lost family members. The booth, once ignored, silently witnessed countless moving stories and conveyed the core values of human warmth and the importance of life.
In order to embody the spirit of caring for life, we are launching a design competition for the Liou Ai Park, hoping to create a meaningful memorial space. The competition site is located in Jianxi Township, Hsinchu County, surrounded by mountains and offering a peaceful environment. The land has been purchased by the Love Continuation Public Welfare Association for future park development. The site is in a prime location, surrounded by lush green mountains, creating a serene and quiet environment, away from the hustle and bustle. Additionally, it is close to the popular Xinchu Neiwang Train Station, which will further connect the park to local attractions, increasing its public use for spiritual and welfare purposes.
The land has already undergone necessary site preparation and is equipped with basic infrastructure. Once the design competition concludes and the winning design is selected, work will begin on the development of the park.
Both the environmental conditions of the site and the supporting infrastructure have strong development potential, making it an ideal place to create a unique park that integrates spiritual welfare, landscape ecology, and human care. We eagerly look forward to students passionate about life welfare contributing to this precious site, bringing new vitality to the land and continuing the core philosophy of “Love Continuation.”

Project Name: Eternal Echo Park (心靈留聲園)
Design Concept:
The design of the Eternal Echo Park aims to create a space that accommodates love, family bonds, and memories, offering visitors a place to remember lost loved ones, release emotions, and find inner peace. The park is envisioned as a spiritual space where people can converse with the deceased and express their longing.
The park layout begins with a welcome square at the entrance, initiating an emotional journey for the visitors. A quiet contemplation area, featuring a memorial garden and meditation platform, creates an environment for deep reflection.
To facilitate emotional release, we have designed emotional dialogue pavilions and experience zones, where visitors can listen to their inner voices and find comfort. Through art installations, video projections, and virtual technology, visitors can interact with memories of the past, deepening their emotional connections.
Following the order of life’s journey, the park flows from carefree childhood, to the warmth of family, to the memories of youth, to the nostalgia of rural life, and finally, back to a natural spiritual home. Taiwan’s grassroots elements are integrated into the design, evoking strong emotional connections and providing a continuous, immersive journey of memories.
A transparent spherical structure will serve as the core of the AR/VR experience zone. The interior will feature an interactive AR wall showcasing nostalgic scenes, along with comfortable seating for visitors to relax. Wearing VR headsets, visitors can immerse themselves in virtual environments, reliving childhood memories or moments spent with loved ones, fostering emotional connections and spiritual healing.
Every detail of the Eternal Echo Park, from the comfortable rest areas to the harmonious environmental control, is designed to provide a space for visitors to find peace in their relationships, allowing love and memories to endure here.
