The 2025 Graduation Design Exhibition of the Department of Architecture, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech), Opened at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park
Themed “Timeless”, the exhibition centers around contemporary issues such as hyper-aged societies, climate change, and social transformation, showcasing how students use architectural language to respond to the challenges of the times and envision future possibilities through design practice.
At the opening ceremony, President Chia-Yu Yen highlighted that according to the 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject, Taiwan Tech ranked among the top three in Taiwan in the field of Architecture & Built Environment, underscoring the international recognition of the department’s achievements in teaching and research. Dean Ming-Huang Lin of the College of Design also noted that the university will promote interdisciplinary integration between the Department of Architecture and the Department of Design, and introduce innovative courses combining AI technology to continually enhance students’ forward-looking vision and global competitiveness in the field of design.
This year’s exhibition also features a specially curated international open jury and design exchange, inviting Professor Taishi Watanabe from the Department of Architecture at Waseda University, Japan, along with three graduating students, to engage in face-to-face design discussions and project exchanges with Taiwan Tech students. Organized by graduation project coordinator Professor Fu-Fei Yang, this international academic interaction is intended to stimulate students’ creativity and deepen their understanding and practice of global architectural trends. Such direct engagement also allows students to gain insights from diverse educational backgrounds, enhancing their critical reflection and design communication skills.
Japan is one of the countries with the most Pritzker Architecture Prize laureates, many of whom have received comprehensive architectural education domestically—demonstrating the strength of Japan’s architectural academic system. Waseda University, as one of Japan’s most prestigious institutions for architectural education, holds significant influence in both Asia and the global architectural education scene. Its participation in this exhibition’s international review not only reflects Taiwan Tech’s proactive engagement with world-class academic institutions but also offers graduating students valuable opportunities to participate in global dialogue during their studies. Through cross-border exchanges and professional peer reviews, students are able to broaden their perspectives, deepen architectural thinking, and connect with the pulse of contemporary architectural culture—strengthening their professional competitiveness and global presence before they step into the field.
