This exhibition features first-year students from the Department of Architecture at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Each participant selected an artist and paired their work with Ando Tadao’s Kidosaki House as a conceptual foundation, presenting their projects at the Dadaocheng Design Art Center.

Drawing inspiration from Aragami Myouka, Yu-En poetically transforms mundane experiences using flower petals to construct surreal scenarios. Through the large glass windows on the first floor, visitors can view Yu-En’s work while watching the bustle of Yongle Market across the street. The installation creates a layered reflection of the imagined and the real.
郭韋岑
Based on Yoshito Usui, the creator of Crayon Shin-chan from Saitama Prefecture. It highlights the humor and dynamics of everyday family life, integrating a courtyard and greenery with Yongle Plaza.
林鉅軒
Focusing on Taiwanese singer Crane, Ju-Hsuan explores themes of introspection and the blurred line between inner and outer worlds. Using both curves and straight lines, the work embodies strength within softness and self-awareness.
温子育
Manga artist Zhang Ji-Ya as the subject, weaving together the tea culture of Dadaocheng with the narrative flow of Ji-Ya’s storytelling. The interplay between indoor and outdoor spaces expresses the layered structure of her works.
許毓芳
Combining the theme of family relationships from Ando’s Kidosaki House with elements from photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto’s works—such as preserved specimens, theater, electric fields, the coexistence of blur and clarity, and the power of simplicity.
陳旻鉦
Using red bricks and exposed concrete to interpret the local context of Dihua Street. Inspired by James Turrell, whose work evokes a sense of transcending time and space, Min-Cheng places the installation in Dihua’s courtyard, juxtaposing ancient with modern, and tradition with innovation.
曾振行
Drawing from Ando’s mastery of light, Chen-Hsing expresses the life and artistic pauses of master painter Chang Dai-Chien through the fluidity of light. This also resonates with Ando’s architectural aesthetics—light flows like brushstrokes, sparking the imagination.
吳齊佑
Inspired by Dihua Street’s fabric markets, Qiyou captures the interaction between light, trees, and stairs found in Ando’s works to present a space for Portuguese textile artist Vanessa. The structure, echoing the form of a loom, parallels the tightly packed sloped rooftops of Dadaocheng, allowing light to weave through the space.
Everyone loves a good story. These eight participants are honored to share their vision of the city’s other side with you at Café Luce.
